Water Treatment Equipment & Installation in Metcalfe, ON
Water Softeners
Almost all of our clients who reside in the country and are not on City water services require water treatment in their homes. Honest D Plumbing specializes in the installation and replacement of water treatment units. Hard water means the water contains more minerals (calcium & magnesium) than filtered city water. If your water contains anything more than 7-10 grains per gallon of hardness, it is considered hard and a softener is recommended. In order to make the water soft (which means less streaking on glass and plumbing fixtures, softer hair after showering) you will require a water softener.

Iron & Sulphur Units
After your water test, it may be determined that your water contains hydrogen sulfide gas and is producing an unpleasant rotten egg odor when you run your water. If your fixtures (sinks/faucets) have red staining, this likely indicates the presence of iron.
Tips to Check Quality of Water
Tip: Remove the lid on the back of your toilet tank. This is a good place to check the quality of your country water. If the lid and tank are black in color – chances are you require a sulphur unit. If the color is red, you may require an iron unit. At Honest D Plumbing we supply a Novo unit which encompasses both issues, iron & sulphur. Our water test will take the guesswork out and provide a comprehensive reading of all minerals contained in your water.
Our clients in the country will often opt for the combination of softener and sulphur unit to obtain optimal water experience within their homes. Both iron/sulphur and water softeners can run independently of one another but most times are used in combination with each other.
Reverse Osmosis System
Many of our clients want great tasting water without the monthly cost of bottled water. Reverse osmosis systems are quickly becoming the most environmentally friendly drinking water solution. Our Reverse Osmosis units come with an independent tap that will provide you with clear drinking water containing no harmful pollutants. These pollutants are filtered out through a carbon filtration system and can be installed within your kitchen cabinet or even on a fridge line. Contact Honest D Plumbing today and find out more about this and our other water treatment systems. Our legions of valued clients always say they wished they’d have done it sooner!
UV Light Systems for Water
UV lights are a chemical-free way to reduce harmful bacteria that could be in your water. By process of filtering the microorganisms through this powerful UV light, it eliminates 99.9% of the bacteria and viruses we may be ingested through drinking water within our homes. It is important to note that if you purchase a UV light and your water contains over 7-10 grains per gallon of hardness, then a water softener is required to filter out the minerals & allow the UV light to work properly. Remember – the UV system is only as good as what the light can penetrate.
